Reit im Winkl is a small village located in the southeastern part of Bavaria, Germany. Situated within the Traunstein district, it lies in the Bavarian Alps on the border with Austria, specifically facing towards Tyrol and the Austrian states of Tyrol and Salzburg.

The village has a population of approximately 2,600 residents. Historically, Reit im Winkl served as an immigration and customs control point. It is positioned south of Chiemsee and southwest of Ruhpolding, which hosts the Biathlon World Cup. The nearby village of Kössen in Tyrol lies along the river Lofer before it joins the confluence of the river Tiroler Achen.
