Pliening is a community located in the northwest of the district of Ebersberg within the Regierungsbezirk of Upper Bavaria, Germany. It is situated east of Munich, which lies approximately 20 km to its west.
In recent decades, the town has experienced significant growth and flourished as a commuter base for the city of Munich. As of 2006, the official population level reached 5,263 residents. In the local dialect, the name of the community is pronounced Pleaning.
