Oberviechtach is a town located in the district of Schwandorf within the state of Bavaria, Germany. It is situated approximately 31 km southeast of Weiden in der Oberpfalz and 27 km northeast of Schwandorf.
The town's name is derived from "Fichte," which refers to pine trees; this botanical connection is also represented on the official coat of arms. Additionally, Oberviechtach is notable for being the birthplace of Johann Andreas Eisenbarth.
