Nördlingen is a town located in the Donau-Ries district of Swabia, Bavaria, Germany. It has a population of approximately 20,674 and is situated roughly 115 km east of Stuttgart and 145 km northwest of Munich.

The town was built within the Nördlinger Ries, an impact crater formed 15 million years ago by a meteorite striking at an estimated speed of 70,000 km/h. The crater measures approximately 25 km in diameter and is known for containing an estimated 72,000 tons of micro-diamonds.
