Marquartstein is a municipality located in the southeastern part of Bavaria, Germany. It serves as a member of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Marquartstein und Staudach-Egerndach and is situated within the Chiemgau region. The town is positioned approximately 10 km south of Lake Chiemsee, nestled between the cities of Munich and Salzburg.
Geographically, Marquartstein lies at the edge of the Alps at coordinates 47°46′N 12°28′E. Much of the municipality is situated in the valley of the river Tiroler Achen, which serves to divide the village into two distinct parts.
