Hergatz is a municipality located in the district of Lindau within the state of Bavaria, Germany. It serves as a contemporary town established through administrative reorganization.
The current municipality was formed during the municipal reform at the end of the 1970s. This process involved the merger of the former municipalities of Wohmbrechts and Maria-Thann into the unified entity of Hergatz.
