Günzburg is a town located in Bavaria, Germany. It serves as a Große Kreisstadt and functions as the capital of the Swabian district of Günzburg.
The current administrative boundaries of the district were established in 1972. This was achieved by combining the city of Günzburg, which had not previously been assigned to a district, with the existing districts of Günzburg and Krumbach.
