Garmisch-Partenkirchen is an Alpine ski town located in the Bavaria region of southern Germany. It serves as the seat of government for the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen within the Oberbayern region, which borders Austria.

The town is situated near the Zugspitze, which is Germany's highest mountain, reaching an elevation of 2,962 metres (9,718 ft) above sea level.
