Freilassing

Freilassing is a town located in the southeastern corner of Bavaria, Germany. It belongs to the Regierungsbezirk Oberbayern and the Landkreis of Berchtesgadener Land. Until 1923, the municipality was known as Salzburghofen.

The town has a population of approximately 16,000 inhabitants. Situated very close to the German-Austrian border, Freilassing is considered the largest satellite of Salzburg, which is located eight kilometers away across the border.
