Forchheim is a town located in the Upper Franconia region of northern Bavaria, Germany. It serves as the seat of the administrative district of Forchheim. The town covers a land area of 44.95 square kilometres and sits at an elevation of 265 metres above sea level.
Historically designated as a former royal city, Forchheim is often referred to as the Gateway to the Franconian Switzerland due to its proximity to the region of natural beauty located to its northeast. The town is notably famous for Annafest, a ten-day beer and music festival held in late July on an idyllic wooded hillside on the outskirts of the town featuring 24 beer gardens.
As of December 2013, the population of Forchheim was 30,705. The town is situated at the geographic coordinates of 49° 44' N and 11° 04' E.
