Chiemsee is a freshwater lake located in Bavaria, Germany, situated near the town of Rosenheim. Due to its size and appearance, it is frequently referred to as "the Bavarian Sea."
The lake's hydrology is defined by several rivers; the Tiroler Achen and Prien flow into the body of water from the south, while the river Alz flows out toward the north. The Alz eventually joins the Inn river, which then merges with the Danube.
Geographically, Chiemsee is divided into two distinct sections. The larger northern section in the northeast is known as Weitsee, while the southwestern portion is called Inselsee.
