Bamberg is a town located in Upper Franconia, Bavaria, Germany. It is situated on the river Regnitz near its confluence with the river Main and had a population of 79,000 inhabitants in 2022.
The town dates back to the 9th century, with its name derived from the nearby Babenberch castle. It is recognized as one of Germany's most beautiful towns due to its medieval streets and buildings. The old town of Bamberg, which contains approximately 2,400 timber houses, has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993.
