Waldkirch is a town located in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated approximately 15 kilometers northeast of Freiburg im Breisgau.
Historically known as the "town of mechanical organs," Waldkirch was once a center for manufacturing fairground organs, with notable firms including Carl Frei, Andreas Ruth and Son, and Wilhelm Bruder and Sons. The town currently hosts cultural events such as the Organ Festival, the Klappe 11 Cinema festival, and the Peter Feuchtwanger Piano Masterclass.
The modern economy of Waldkirch is supported by several large employers. These include SICK AG, a manufacturer of optical sensors; Faller AG, which produces pharmaceutical packaging and inserts; and Mack Rides, an international exporter of amusement park and water park rides.
