Schliengen

Germany

Schliengen is a municipality located in southwestern Germany within the state of Baden-Württemberg. It is situated in the district of Lörrach.

The town is historically significant for the Battle of Schliengen, which was fought between the Austrian army under Karl von Österreich-Teschen and the French Revolutionary army led by Jean-Victor Moreau. Because both opposing sides claimed victory in the engagement, the battle is commemorated with monuments in both Vienna and on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
