Ostfildern is a town located in the district of Esslingen within the state of Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. It is situated approximately 8 km southeast of the city of Stuttgart.
The municipality was formed in 1975 through the fusion of four previously separate boroughs: Nellingen, Ruit, Kemnat, and Scharnhausen. As of current records, Ostfildern has a population of approximately 37,000 inhabitants.
