Laupheim is a major district town located in southern Germany within the state of Baden-Württemberg. First mentioned in 778, the settlement officially gained city rights in 1869. Historically, it served as a location for one of the main trading routes connecting Ulm to Ravensburg and Lake Constance.
The town developed from a rural settlement into a small urban area that currently hosts various small to medium-sized industries and businesses. A significant employer in the region is the German Armed Forces, which maintains an airbase near the town known as Laupheim Air Base.
