Holzmaden is a town located in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated between the cities of Stuttgart and Ulm, specifically 4 km southeast of Kirchheim unter Teck and 19 km southeast of Esslingen am Neckar.
The town is positioned near the A 8 motorway, which runs south from its location. Holzmaden and the surrounding region are primarily recognized for being a significant source of exceptionally well-preserved fossils dating back to the Jurassic period.
