Friedrichshafen is a city located on the northern shoreline of Lake Constance in southern Germany. It serves as the district capital (Kreisstadt) of the Bodensee district within the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. The city is situated near the borders of both Switzerland and Austria.

The city has a population of approximately 63,000 residents. Its geographic position on Lake Constance defines its regional setting in southern Germany.
