Badenweiler is a health resort and spa located in the Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Situated at the western edge of the Black Forest, it is historically associated with the Markgräflerland region. The town is positioned approximately 10 kilometers from the French border and 28 kilometers from Basel by road and rail.
The area is characterized by an excellent climate sheltered by the Blauen mountain, which reaches an elevation of 1,164 metres. Notable historical landmarks include an Evangelical parish church built in 1897 at the foot of an 11th-century castle. This castle originally belonged to the margraves of Baden before it was destroyed by French forces during the wars of Louis XV.
