Tochni is a village situated in the Larnaca District of Cyprus, positioned approximately halfway between the cities of Larnaca and Limassol. Historically, the settlement maintained a mixed population consisting of both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots.
The village was significantly impacted by the events of August 1974 following the Turkish invasion of the island. During this period, 85 Turkish Cypriot inhabitants from Tochni and neighboring villages were massacred by Greek Cypriots. The remaining Turkish residents were subsequently evacuated from the area using coaches and UN military vehicles provided by 7 Sqn RCT, which was serving with the UN at camp UNFICYP Nicosia.
