Parekklisha

Cyprus

Parekklisia is a village situated in the Limassol District of Cyprus, located northeast of Agios Tychonas. As a coastal settlement, it features a long history of human habitation dating back to antiquity.

The area was first inhabited during the Early Aceramic Neolithic Period, approximately 8200 B.C., at a site known as Shillourokambos. Archaeological excavations conducted by French researchers at this location revealed a tomb containing what is identified as the earliest domesticated cat in the world.
