Zapote is a city located in Cuba. However, it is also identified as the fifth district of the San José canton within the San José province of Costa Rica.
In its capacity as an administrative unit surrounding downtown San José, Costa Rica, the district is primarily residential. It serves as a location for several government buildings, most notably the Presidential House, which functions as the seat of the government.
