Sagua la Grande is a municipality situated on the north coast of Cuba's Villa Clara Province, located in the central region of the island. The city is positioned along the Sagua la Grande River and serves as a primary geographic point within this province.
The area is characterized by its proximity to several notable natural features, including the limestone cliffs known as Mogotes de Jumagua. Additionally, many cays belonging to the Sabana-Camaguey Archipelago are located off the municipality's northern coast. Residents born in Sagua la Grande are referred to as sagüeros.
