Chambas

Cuba

Chambas is a municipality and town located in the Ciego de Ávila Province of Cuba. It was established in 1976 following a new political-administrative division within the region.

The municipality covers a total area of 770.08 km², which includes 12 km² of adjacent cays, making it the second largest municipality by surface area in the province. It has a population of 39,085 inhabitants and a population density of 54.5 inhabitants per square kilometer.

While its overall population density is lower than the provincial average, Chambas remains one of the municipalities with the highest population density in Ciego de Ávila, surpassed only by the municipalities of Ciego de Ávila, Morón, and Florencia.
