Havana is the capital and largest city of Cuba. Located in the heart of La Habana Province, it serves as the nation's primary port and commercial center. It is the most populous city in the country and the largest by area.
The city covers an area of 728.26 km2 (281.18 sq mi), while its metropolitan zone extends to 8,475.57 km2. Havana represents the second-largest metropolitan area in the Caribbean region. While the population was recorded at 2,142,939 in 2021, the official population decreased to 1,749,964 by the end of 2024.
