Zulia is a state located in Venezuela and is one of the country's 23 states. It is coterminous with the eponymous region of Zulia, and its capital city is Maracaibo.
As of the 2011 census, Zulia was the most populous state in Venezuela, with a population of 3,704,404. The state is also notable for its linguistic characteristics, specifically as one of the few regions in the country where voseo—the use of "vos" as the second-person singular pronoun—is widespread.
