Tenerife is the largest and most populous island of the Canary Islands, an autonomous community of Spain. It is situated in the Atlantic Ocean off the northwestern coast of Africa and covers an area of 2,034.38 km2 (785.48 sq mi). With a population of 972,018 as of 2026, it is the most populous island in both Macaronesia and Spain.

The island is dominated by Teide, a volcanic peak that serves as the highest mountain in Spain and the highest point in the Atlantic islands. Tenerife is also recognized as the largest island within the Macaronesia region.
