San Sebastián de Buenavista is a town and municipality located in the Department of Magdalena in Colombia. It was originally founded in 1748 by Fernando de Mier y Guerra under the name San Sebastián de Melchiquejo.
The settlement was officially established as a municipality on November 15, 1957, at which point its name was changed to San Sebastián de Buenavista.
