Sotaquira

Sotaquirá is a town and municipality located in the Central Boyacá Province within the Colombian department of Boyacá. It is situated in the Eastern Ranges of the Colombian Andes at an altitude of 2,860 metres (9,380 ft), approximately 39 kilometres (24 mi) from the city of Tunja.

The municipality is characterized by its highly rural nature, with 90% of its population residing in rural areas. The region is notable for its livestock, possessing about 50% more cows than inhabitants. Sotaquirá shares borders with Tuta to the east, Paipa to the north, Gámbita, Santander to the west, and Cómbita to the south.
