Socotá is a town and municipality located in the Valderrama Province of the Boyacá department in Colombia. It is situated within the Eastern Ranges of the Colombian Andes at an altitude of 2,443 metres (8,015 ft). The urban centre lies approximately 134 kilometres (83 mi) from Tunja, which serves as the departmental capital.
The municipality shares borders with several neighboring regions. To the north, it borders Jericó and Sativanorte; to the south, it is adjacent to Pisba and Mongua. Its eastern boundaries meet Chita, Támara, and Casanare, while its western borders are shared with Sativasur, Tasco, Socha, and Gámeza.
