San José de Pare is a town and municipality located in the Ricaurte Province of the Boyacá department in Colombia. The urban center of the municipality sits at an elevation of 1,545 metres (5,069 ft) within the Eastern Ranges of the Colombian Andes, while the overall municipal elevation ranges between 1,200 and 2,400 metres.
The municipality is situated along the highway connecting Bogotá to Bucaramanga, approximately 217 kilometres (135 mi) from the Colombian capital. It shares a border with the department of Santander, which is defined by the Suárez River. Neighboring municipalities include Chitaraque, Togüí, Moniquirá, and Santana.
