Guateque is a town and municipality located in the Department of Boyacá, Colombia. It is situated within the subregion of the Eastern Boyacá Province on the Altiplano Cundiboyacense.
The urban center of Guateque sits at an altitude of 1,815 metres (5,955 ft). It is positioned approximately 125 kilometres (78 mi) from Tunja, the capital of Boyacá, and 112 kilometres (70 mi) from Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. The municipality shares borders with La Capilla, Tenza, Sutatenza, and Somondoco in Boyacá, as well as Tibiritá and Manta in Cundinamarca.
