Chivatá is a town and municipality located in the Central Boyacá Province within the Colombian department of Boyacá. The urban center is situated at an altitude of 2,903 meters (9,524 ft) on the Altiplano Cundiboyacense.
The municipality is positioned approximately 5 kilometers (3.1 mi) from Tunja, which serves as the department capital. It shares borders with Oicatá, Toca, and Tuta to the north; Toca and Siachoque to the east; Siachoque and Soracá to the south; and Tunja to the west.
