Tausa is a municipality and town located in the Ubaté Province of the Cundinamarca department in Colombia. The urban center of the town sits at an elevation of 2,950 metres (9,680 ft) and is situated approximately 65 kilometres (40 mi) from the capital city of Bogotá.
The area was historically significant as part of the Altiplano Cundiboyacense due to its salt mine. It served as the third most prolific salt deposit for the Muisca, the original inhabitants of the region. Tausa shares borders with several neighboring municipalities, including San Cayetano, Carmen de Carupa, Sutatausa, Pacho, Cucunubá, Suesca, Nemocón, and Cogua.
