Caicedonia is a town and municipality located in the Department of Valle del Cauca in Colombia. It is situated approximately 172 km from the national capital city of Cali. The municipality was founded in 1910 by Daniel Gutierrez, Juan Bautista Angely, and a group of settlers originating from Antioquia, Caldas, and Tolima. It was named in honor of Lisandro Caicedo and officially achieved municipal status in 1923.
The geography of Caicedonia is predominantly mountainous, and its economy is primarily driven by agriculture and commerce. The region's main exports include corn, coffee, sugarcane, and bananas. Due to its proximity to the Quindío Department—located only 35 km from the capital city of Armenia—Caicedonia is culturally and ethnographically associated with the Paisa region.
