Falan is a town and municipality located in the Tolima department of Colombia. Situated at an altitude of 930 meters above sea level, the municipality covers a total area of 238 km2.
The area was originally inhabited by the Guandecas and Pomponáes tribes before being discovered by the Spanish explorer Baltazar Maldonado in 1539. As of the 1993 census, the population of the municipality was recorded at 17,251 residents.
The local economy is primarily driven by agriculture, which serves as the main source of employment for most workers. Additionally, some residents engage in logging and mining activities within the region.
