Coveñas is a resort city and municipality situated in the Sucre Department of northern Colombia. Originally established during the 16th century, it served historically as a port for slave traders before transitioning into an oil port during the twentieth century.
The area was officially classified as a municipality in 2002. Today, Coveñas is recognized as a popular resort destination, particularly for residents of the Colombian Andean region.
