Málaga is a municipality located in southern Spain and serves as the capital of the province of Málaga within the autonomous community of Andalusia. Situated on the Costa del Sol along the Mediterranean coast, the city is primarily positioned on the left bank of the Guadalhorce river.
As of 2024, Málaga has a population of 592,346, making it the second-largest city in Andalusia and the sixth-largest in Spain. The urban core of the city originally developed in the area between the Gibralfaro Hill and the Guadalmedina.
