Barrancabermeja is a municipality and city located in the western part of the department of Santander in Colombia. It is situated on the shore of the Magdalena River.
The city is widely recognized as the Oil Capital of Colombia. It serves as the site of the country's largest oil refinery, which operates under the direct management of ECOPETROL.
