Pasto, officially known as San Juan de Pasto, is the capital city of the department of Nariño located in southern Colombia. Situated in the Atriz Valley on the Andes cordillera, the city sits at the foot of the Galeras volcano.
Founded in 1537, the city was named after the indigenous people who inhabited the region. According to the 2018 census, the municipality had a population of 392,930 residents.
