La Jagua del Pilar, which translates literally to "The Jagua of the Pillar," is a town and municipality located in the Colombian Department of La Guajira. It officially became a municipality within the department in 1998.
The municipality covers a total area of 187 km² and is situated at an elevation of approximately 450 meters above sea level. The region maintains an average temperature of 27 °C.
