Albania, officially known as the Republic of Albania, is a country located in Southeast Europe within the Balkan Peninsula. It is situated along the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, which are part of the Mediterranean Sea. The nation shares land borders with Montenegro to the northwest, Kosovo to the northeast, North Macedonia to the east, and Greece to the south.

The country covers an area of 28,748 km² (11,100 sq mi) and features a diverse range of geological, hydrological, and morphological conditions. Its landscapes vary from rugged, snow-capped mountains—including the Albanian Alps and the Korab, Skanderbeg, Pindus, and Ceraunian Mountains—to fertile lowland plains that extend along the Adriatic and Ionian seacoasts.

Tirana serves as the capital and largest city of Albania. Other significant urban centers within the country include Durrës, Vlorë, and Shkodër.
