San José del Palmar is a municipality and town located in the Chocó Department of Colombia. It is situated in the central part of the country, approximately 240 km (150 mi) west of the capital city, Bogotá.
The town sits at an elevation of 1,288 meters (4,226 ft) above sea level. It has a population of about 4,800 residents.
