La Paz, officially known as Nuestra Señora de La Paz, is the seat of government for Bolivia and serves as the capital of the department of the same name. It is located in the country's Andean highlands.
As of 2024, the city has a population of 755,732 residents, making it the third-most populous city in Bolivia. Its metropolitan area, which encompasses neighboring El Alto and several smaller towns, is the second most populous urban area in the country with a total population of 2.2 million.
