Campo de la Cruz is a municipality and town located in the southern part of the Colombian department of Atlántico. It is situated on the west bank of the Magdalena River and is ranked as the fifth most populated town within its department. The town is positioned approximately 80 km south of Barranquilla by road.
Originally established as a fishing village, the settlement was formally founded during the 17th-century colonial period under the name Puerto Real de la Cruz. Following independence from the Spanish Empire, the municipality was renamed Campo de la Cruz. During both the colonial era and the early republican period, it served as an important fluvial port.
