Sopetrán is a municipality located in the western subregion of the department of Antioquia in Colombia. It covers a total area of 223 square kilometers and is situated approximately 59 kilometers from Medellín, the state capital. According to the 2018 census, the municipality had a population of 13,748 residents.
The borders of Sopetrán are defined by several neighboring municipalities: Olaya to the north, Belmira to the east, San Jerónimo and Ebéjico to the south, and Santa Fe de Antioquia to the west.
