Yanmen Pass, also known as Yanmenguan or Xixingguan, is a mountain pass located in the Shanxi Province of China. It is situated just outside Yanmenguan Village in Yanmenguan Township, within Dai County of Xinzhou City. The site features three fortified gatehouses integrated into the Great Wall of China.
Historically, the pass served as a strategic choke point that controlled access between the Eurasian Steppe and the valleys of central Shanxi. Due to its defensive importance, the area was the site of numerous significant battles throughout ancient and medieval history, as well as during World War II. Today, the scenic area surrounding the gatehouses and this stretch of the Great Wall is a recognized tourist attraction.
