Yangbajain is a town located in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China. It is situated approximately 87 kilometers (54 mi) northwest of Lhasa, positioned roughly halfway to Damxung.
The town lies just south of the Nyainqêntanglha Mountains within an upland lush green valley. The surrounding hillsides are populated by nomads living in tents and grazing herds of yak and sheep. Notable landmarks in the area include the Yangpachen Monastery, which served as the historical seat of the Shamarpas of Karma Kagyü, and the Yangbajing International Cosmic Ray Observatory.
