Mawu is a creator goddess in Gbe mythology and West African Vodun, specifically associated with the former Dahomey Kingdom. She is often paired with Lisa to form Mawu-Lisa, an agender deity who represents the Sun and the Moon.
In the mythological hierarchy, Mawu and Lisa are identified as the children of Nana Buluku. They are also the parents of Oba Koso (Shango), who is known as Hebioso among the Fon people.
