Nanchong is a prefecture-level city located in the northeastern part of Sichuan province, China. It covers a total area of 12,479.96 square kilometers and serves as an important administrative hub with its center located in the Shunqing District.
As of late 2024, Nanchong has a resident population of approximately 5.489 million people, making it the second most populated city in Sichuan province after Chengdu. The city's demographic profile includes an urbanization rate of 53.73%, with roughly 2.949 million residents living in urban areas and 2.54 million residing in rural regions.
